Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic Basketball Australia made the difficult choice to cancel the championships. The U14 boys were the first team to represent Sunbury in the championships since 1988. The 1988 team consisted of several talented players. Aaron Trahair, who played in the NBL from 1994 to 2008 and won a championship with the Perth Wildcats in 1995 was in the team. Aaron now lives in Western Australia after coaching in the SBL (now NBL1 West).
The Australian Under-14 Club Championships, a highly regarded fun and elite basketball event held annually as a part of Basketball Australia’s Australian Junior Championships tournaments, had this year’s instalment scheduled to be contested in late September.

Teams participating in these championships are representing their state. The event will next be held from Sunday 3 July to Sunday 10 July 2022 at the Warwick Stadium in Perth, Western Australia. U14 Girl's History. The Australian Junior Championships form a vital pathway from participation through to elite competition for the nation’s junior athletes and also illustrate the strength of our country programs. The U14 Girls Club Championships commenced in 1981 in Sydney when North Adelaide defeated Diamond Valley 46-45.

The Nunawading Spectres are ramping up preparations ahead of the U14 Australian Club Championships, having qualified both girl’s and boy’s teams through to the national tournament to be held at Casey Stadium starting 27 September. The Spectres are one of three Victorian programs that will be represented on both sides of the tournament that see’s the best 24 girl’s and 24 boy’s teams from around Australia battle it out to be crowned national champions.
The 2019 Australian Under-14 Club Championships will return to being hosted together next year with Basketball Ballarat to host the Boys and Girls competitions concurrently between 30 September – 5 October. Ballarat Basketball last hosted the Under-18 Championships and Kevin Coombs Cup in 2015 and also hosted the Under-14 Girls Club Championships in 2013 but next year will see them run the Under-14 Boys for the first time ever.
